Honolulu Airport to…Costco?

Honolulu Airport to Costco
+

We drive Honolulu International Airport arrivals to hotels, resorts, and vacation rentals along with a wide variety of other island destinations they want to go to, to kill time before checking into their accommodations. The latter includes everything from snorkeling and surf spots to shave ice stands and shopping malls. But another destination that comes up every so often may surprise you – Costco. That’s right, one of the world’s most popular “big box” shops is apparently a top draw for some recent HNL arrivals. If you may be among them, here’s what you need to know.

4 Things for Visitors to Consider When You Want to Get from Honolulu Airport to a Costco Location on Oahu

1. Umm…Why?

Why does someone need a 48-roll pack of toilet paper the moment they get off of their flight? We’re not going to speculate on that one, but there are indeed logical reasons for wanting to hit the major retailer before heading to your accommodations. After all, if you’ve got time to spare before checking in, why not load up on some affordable goodies to make your trip go smoother from the get-go. The big brick and mortar has snorkel and outdoor recreational gear, toiletry and hygiene supplies that hotels don’t provide, and of course snacks and goodies that come at a fraction of the price of resort area ABC Stores. You have your reasons – we’re just here to take you there. Keep reading.

2. Which One to Go To

This depends on your hotel/resort/rental zone. Assuming that you’re not that familiar with the island, we can help you figure out which one is most accessible based upon where you will be staying. The four Costco locations on Oahu are indeed conveniently located near popular tourist destinations and resort communities.

If you’re staying in Ko Olina, at the Marriott or Disney Aulani (for example), you’ll be pleased to know that there is a nearby store on Kapolei Pkwy in Kapolei, which is just a 7-minute drive or 15 minute bus ride from the resort community. And, if you’re lucky, you may just run into the real life Maui who works at this location!

If you’re staying in central Oahu, or making your way to the North Shore from HNL then the Ka Uka Blvd location in Waipahu between Waipio and Mililani makes the most sense. This one is about 20 minutes driving (non rush hour) from the airport.

If you’re staying on the south shore in Honolulu near the most popular tourist district of Waikiki then the location on Alakawa St in Honolulu works. This Costco Warehouse is about a 20 minute drive from HNL and most Waikiki Beach hotels, and just 10-minutes from downtown Honolulu.

We’ve covered the west side (Kapolei), central (Waipahu) to North Shore (en route), and south shore (Honolulu), so what about the windward side? Furthest away from HNL, is the Hawaii Kai Towne Center location, which is about 30 minutes from the airport. While Hawaii Kai is not a designated resort district it boasts a good number of vacation rentals, so if you’re booked to stay in one of them, the Keahole Street store if where you want to be.

Best Way to Get to Costco from HNL

Need to get from HNL to an Oahu hotel? There are certainly shuttles for such a thing. But you don’t exactly find too many (any) airport transfer services referencing HNL to Costco routes, that is until now. Better yet, because we offer flat rates not just to specific hotels but to Oahu communities you can take advantage of our flat rate pricing for your Costco run. Simply cross reference our Honolulu Airport transfer flat rates to the Costco destination of choice above and you’ll see that we’re a much better option than traditional taxis, Uber/Lyft, and certainly public transportation.

What to Do When Leaving Costco to Go to Your Accommodations

OK, so you can use our shuttle service to get picked up at HNL and dropped off at Costco, but what then? You’ve got options. This is when ride share services and even public transportation may make sense, given that the four stores are conveniently located in popular areas. However, we can offer you another option too – we can wait while you shop. In addition to serving visitors as the primary airport shuttle service we offer a custom island tours. That means we’re accustomed to incorporating hourly rates when needed. Our custom island tours start at just $60/hour, so assuming that you’ll be an hour at Costco (you need time for all those food samples!) we can simply work that into the HNL transfer flat rate and wait while you shop, load you up, and drop you off at your hotel, resort, or vacation rental. If you don’t need that much time, simply call us at 1.800.929-1219 to book your flat rate airport pickup and then we can discuss the additional cost of a quick pit stop at Costco, before we take you to your accommodations.
