So it’s your last day on Oahu and your flight is a few hours away. You realize that you’ve still got some money to burn along with your time, and getting sweaty at the beach before a 6 hour (or more) flight doesn’t sound all that appealing. Now is the perfect opportunity to squeeze in some shopping for last minute gifts, goodies, and island souvenirs. However, you want to keep it close to the airport so that you’re not left sprinting passed TSA to make it to the gate before departure (which is not a good idea in itself). Thankfully, you’ve got some great options.

As your concierge to and from the Honolulu International Airport (HNL), we’ve listed a few places you can go to get your shopping fix within a short distance from HNL. And remember, we have the lowest flat rate, non-stop, private shuttle that can take you from any of the spots below directly to the airport.

Top 4 Convenient Places to Shop Before Your Flight from Honolulu International Airport

Ala Moana Center

The biggest shopping mall in the entire state of Hawaii is just a short seven miles from HNL, and depending upon the time of day you can make it from Ala Moana to the airport in 15-20 minutes (30-minutes when traffic is very heavy). There are nearly 300 shops to step into at this big open air shopping center. If you’re looking for gifts and souvenirs, you’ve got everything from Honolulu Cookie Company and Sand People to Martin & MacArthur and Crazy Shirts. Of course, all of the usual suspects are there too, from The Disney Store and Barnes & Noble to Macy’s and Nordstrom. The only negative? You’ll probably have to buy some new luggage (at Target) to bring those new purchases back home. But don’t worry, we’ve got room for it all!

Pearlridge Center

This is the second biggest mall in all of Hawaii, and is located even closer to HNL, at just under five miles from your place of departure. You can make it from there to HNL in 10-15 minutes. Found in Aiea, this shopping center has what you need to bring a piece of Hawaii back home with you, including shops such as Aloha Soap Factory, Happy Wahine, Royal Hawaiian Heritage Jewelry, San Lorenzo Bikinis, and even a Leonard’s Malasadas (try not eating them all before you board).

Aloha Stadium Swap Meet

This one only applies to those of you who are flying out of HNL on a Sunday, Wednesday, or Saturday. And if you’re a fan of swap meets and open air markets then you might want to book your flight around these days. The Aloha Stadium Swap Meet is just 10-minutes (four miles) from HNL, and boasts an epic selection of both kitsch souvenirs and authentic local artisan gifts and wares to satisfy your last minute spending spree. Swap meet hours run from Sunday 6:30 AM to 3 PM, and Wednesday/Saturday from 8 AM to 3 PM. Marketplace hours are held on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8 AM to 3 PM.

Waikele Premium Outlets

This is the further option, at just over 10 miles and an 18 to 30 minute drive depending on traffic, but it’s a SIMON Premium Outlets outdoor shopping center, which is gold for many of you. This space has the same SIMON Premium Outlet stores (Guess Factory, Tommy Hilfiger, ZUMIEZ, etc.) you’d find on the mainland. So, while there’s few surprises, you know what to expect and can thus plan your shopping itinerary in a snap and be in and out of there in time to make your flight with an hour or so to spare.
