The Pink Palace has been here since the beginning of time (in regards to the hospitality industry on Oahu) and will outlast all properties no matter the mergers and acquisitions that result in renovations and new construction. This notable historical landmark may be best known for its pink tone and background in serving Ali’i (Hawaiian royalty, essentially) but it is also heralded as being the preeminent beachfront resort on the island. Moana Surfrider Hotel (approximately 9.5 miles)

Next to the Royal Hawaiian, this is the other most historically renowned Waikiki Beach property, and the large banyan tree that fronts (from the beach side) the establishment also reaches out on to the off-white sands of the South Shore. The Moana Surfrider and its tall Romanesque columns may stand in contrast to what you’d expect from a beachfront resort, but within minutes of checking in you can grab a board and surf with local Waikiki Beach boys and soak of the mana of the likes of Duke Kahanamoku along with other legends that rode the waves just outside of this property.
