Honolulu Airport Shuttle to Courtyard Marriott on the North Shore

There are a fair number of Marriott properties on Oahu, with some of them being reasonably close to Honolulu International Airport. But one of them is about as far away from HNL as you can get – the Courtyard Marriott – located 35 miles away in the sleepy North Shore town of Laie. But what you lose in airport proximity you more than make up for in luxury that is removed from the over-bustling resort communities of the island. But given the distance, you need to find the most efficient yet comfortable HNL transportation option possible. You’ve come to the right place.

Best Private Flat Rate Shuttle from Honolulu International Airport to the Courtyard Marriott in Laie and What Else You Need to Know

Take a Direct, Private, Flat-Rate Shuttle

There is no shared shuttle service from HNL to the Courtyard Marriott, Laie, or anywhere on the North Shore for that matter. The estimated taxi fare is $178 USD, which is way overinflated especially when you consider it’s a traditional taxi – not exactly how you want to pull into this upscale resort. And if you’re coming from anywhere with less favorable currency conversion (i.e. Canada) the one-way taxi rate is nearly as high as a one-night stay. Taking an Uber or Lyft isn’t much (or at all) better given that you need to order Uber XL or Lyft XL to fit your party with carryons and luggage. The fare on an Uber or Lyft XL during primetime is approximately $170 USD (go ahead and check your app). Plus, with the ride-hailing option you’re looking at an over 35 mile drive (about an hour) making small talk with a stranger who is not a professional driver with a longstanding (decade+) commercial permit. You may be considering a car rental, but adding that extra hour or so to your HNL arrival chips away at valuable time in paradise. In addition, the directions from the airport to the Courtyard Marriott in Laie are pretty confusing for visitors, regardless of a GPS system:

“Exit the airport and turn left onto HI-92 West. Travel 0.5 miles. Keep right at the fork in the road and follow signs for Interstate H1 West/Aiea Pearl City. Merge onto I-H1 West. Travel 1.8 miles to exit 13B for I-H3 East toward HI-78 East/Kaneohe/Honolulu. Travel 0.5 miles and merge onto I-H3 East. Travel 8.7 miles to exit 9 for HI-63 North/Likelike Highway. Travel 0.6 miles and take the HI-83/Kahekili Highway ramp. Continue onto HI-83 West/Kahekili Highway. Travel 22.3 miles and turn left to the hotel.” (Courtyard Marriott North Shore website directions)

Pretty complicated, right? You’re much better off saving the car rental for the day after you’ve arrived, after you’ve had time to settle into your accommodations. There is an Enterprise in Kahuku which is a 20-minute bus ride, or 12-minute Uber/Lyft (this is when ride-hailing comes in handy) trip away, but your resort activities director can probably organize something for you.
