For all of the amazing amenities and services that are available at the Moana Surfrider, they do not have their own dedicated airport shuttle service:
Since they don’t offer guests their own shuttle, you are left to your own devices. There are private operators who offer HNL transportation to the Moana Surfrider, but those are shared shuttle services. For obvious reasons, visitors prefer not to use shared shuttles any more, seeing as you’re corralled into them with other passengers (strangers) that you don’t know. Plus their per-person rates make it non-economical for those with over two-people in their party. It’s generally a poor option.
What about a traditional taxi? There’s a reason locals and visitors alike are on the hunt for taxi alternatives. The Moana Surfrider website states that the average taxi fare is unreasonable:
OK, so taxis are out. What about a car rental? While you may want to rent a car for day trips around the island (although you can also book custom driving tours) no one wants to deal with the cost and red tape to rent one from HNL.
Uber or Lyft? Same deal as car rentals. While these are reasonable options for jaunting around the island, ride hailing services make little sense from HNL unless you’re flying solo, with carry-on luggage only.
